It is wonderful to know that God “hides Himself” in our homes, since,
as Isaiah says (45:15), «Truly with you God is hidden». So let’s look for
Him then! Not only because the family is the first place where our holiness
can take shape, but also because it is through the front door of their homes
that holy spouses, those who spread God’s love around themselves, come
and go.
Hence, let us entrust this pastoral tool to Mary the Most Holy and
to Saint Joseph: even in the beauty and perfection of their holiness, they
were man and woman, spouses and parents. Like us, they experienced
hardships and worries; yet – as Pope Francis says – they knew how to allow
themselves to be surprised by God, welcoming life not as an unexpected
event they needed to defend themselves against, but as a mystery that hides
the secret of true joy.
