There was also concern about her daughters’ upbringing,
especially Léonie. Zélie entrusts herself to God in prayer and asks for
the intercession of her beloved sister for her daughter.
This was what Zélie wrote in a letter to her daughter Pauline,
March 12, 1877: «You know how your sister was, completely
insubordinate, she never wanted to obey me except by force; she did,
out of a spirit of contradiction, all the opposite of what I wanted, even
if she herself wanted it. [...] Now I treat this child with such sweetness

that I hope to be able, little by little, to correct her defects» .
