1. marital love and Harmony

Louis and Zélie spoke of each other with words that allowed
a deep, rooted love and great mutual respect to shine through. Their
gaze was constantly directed towards the other spouse, so that the
“I” was constantly replaced by the “we”. Their words knew how to
overlook mistakes and instead sing the praises of their spouse.
«My husband is a holy man. I wish a similar one for all women.

I am always so happy with him: he makes my life very peaceful» .
«He understood me and comforted me... Our feelings were
always in unison and he comforted and supported me» .

Louis ended a letter addressed to his daughters with these words:
«my dear daughters, I hold you all in my heart with much fondness
and I entrust you to your holy mother». (November 25, 1877)
Louis wrote to his wife:
«Dear friend, I will not be able to reach Alençon until Monday;
it seems like such a long time to me, and I look forward to being near
you. Needless to say, your letter gave me great pleasure, except that I
noticed that you are tiring yourself too much. Thus, I recommend you
to stay calm and moderated, in your work [...]. I had the joy of taking
communion at Our Lady of Victories. I also lit a candle for the whole
family. I embrace you all from the heart, awaiting the happiness of
being reunited with you. [...] Your husband and true friend, who

loves you for life» .
