The following year Maria faced a second pregnancy and this time
she was very worried, so much so that she wrote to her husband, away
on business: «Who will give me the strength to think of two children?
To bear the physical and physiological fatigue of pregnancy and the
rest? Believe me that I am truly desperate» . Little by little, thanks

to prayer, serenity returned to Maria’s soul, with the acceptance of
God’s will. On March 9, 1908, Stefania was born.
ENGAGEMENT, MATRIMONY AND CHILDREN
tHe tHird preGnancy

On November 27, 1909, a third child, Cesarino, was born after
a difficult birth.

tHe FourtH preGnancy

At the end of 1913, Maria faces a fourth pregnancy, which
becomes complicated from the fourth month, when she was diagnosed
with “placenta previa”, which meant, at that time, a death sentence
for mother and child. Maria and Luigi were devastated.

douBts

Luigi was restless and asked himself: why her? Why to a mother
of three children, an essential presence in the house, both for them and
for grandparents and great-grandparents, who count on her help? Why
is it she who is affected, deprived of her mission, broken in her prime?
