ULISSE AMENDOLAGINE
(1893 – 1969)

Ulisse was born in Salerno on May 14, 1893. After moving
several times due to his father’s work, the family settled in Rome.
In 1917 he graduated with excellent grades in Law and began
working at the Ministry of the Interior, where he worked his way
to became Prefect. The position he occupied was very delicate and
many people asked him for favors. Ulisse maintained his professional
and moral integrity, even in times of economic difficulty, in which
help might have been valuable for his large family.
As a young man, the environment in which he grew up was
particularly hostile to faith and the Church. «His teachers and

schoolmates challenged him to discussions and controversies about
God, the meaning of things, and life after death. Ulisse responded by

Although not expansive and very reserved, his integrity and
impartiality led him to be respected and well-liked by all.
