Lelia carefully kept a notebook for each child, where she wrote
down the most important events. On the cover, next to the name,
there wasn’t the date of birth but their Saint’s day, which was always
celebrated. «In the Amendolagine household, it was customary to
celebrate the name day with greater importance than the birthday» .

suFFerinG in illness
«Lelia had to face her Calvary and leave her family prematurely,
in 1951. It caused deep pain that was however seen by everyone as a
supernatural event. Lelia, at the end of her life, often loved to repeat ENGAGEMENT, MATRIMONY AND CHILDREN
the last words of the Hail Mary: “pray for us sinners, now and at the
hour of our death...”. Ulisse died in 1969, after having courageously

faced the ordeal of an illness» .
