Baptism
168
Takashi, although hindered by his family and aware that his
choice would not aid his career as a radiologist, scientist and university
professor, decided to ask for Baptism anyway.
matrimony
In 1934 Takashi received his Baptism. The risks associated
with his work as a radiologist did not prevent Midori from accepting
ENGAGEMENT, MATRIMONY AND CHILDREN
his proposal of marriage, and they married in August of that year.
Four children were born, two of whom died very young. Takashi
was a good husband and a loving father, but his research work and
the care of his patients led him to leave Midori alone in handling the
upbringing of the children and the economy of the family, during the
severe economic crisis that Japan was going through.
tHe War
Between 1937 and 1940 Takashi was again called to fight
against China, but this time he was sustained by faith and so he helped,
as a doctor, both the Japanese and the Chinese, having informed his
superiors!
tHe illness
In 1945 Takashi discovered that he had gotten sick with
leukemia because of his work as a radiologist. He was aware that he
did not have many years of life ahead of him, but Midori comforted
him and together they abandoned themselves to God, certain of His
faithfulness.
