Where God’s power emerges
«Marriage is oriented to the holiness of the spouses: Ulisse and
Lelia understood this very well. The living and fulfilling presence of
God in their union was the secret of their mutual faithfulness, of their
strength to face the daily struggle for existence, of their luminous joy.
“Providence always helps” repeated Lelia in the most difficult
and painful moments [...]. “Men have the Lord of the Universe within
their reach but they do not take advantage of it” repeated Ulysses
during the Eucharistic adoration.
[...] Together they faced the dramas of war, persecution, poverty
and illness, thus demonstrating that where there was love, there were
no obstacles or adverse forces that could hold them back, in order to
realize the small domestic Church.
Their children saw and learned all this: more from deeds than
