The Christian Cyprien knew that there were neither Hutu nor
Tutsi ethnic groups, but only children of God.
His conviction becomes a battle to find ways and means to
spread his message to every Rwandan: from the politician to the
intellectual, to all the people. How could this be done? Cyprien used
the gifts he had received from God, and so he wrote books, poems,
composed songs and his message spread everywhere. He was aware
that, in the climate of war between ethnic groups, declaring himself
a Christian was very dangerous, but he persisted: «We belong to only
one ethnic group: that of Jesus» .

martyrdom
On April 6, 1994, the Presidents of both Burundi and Rwanda
die in an assassination attempt. This was the war. On the morning of
April 7, a group of soldiers entered the gate of the Rugamba home and
opened fire: they killed Cyprien, Daphrose, six of their seven children
and a little cousin who was with them.
